Museo degli orologi - Museum of Clocks

La frittata - The omelette

Among the many places of interest remind the Church of St. Mark the Evangelist, modern structure constructed in 1975 and restored in a more harmonic in the early twenty-first century being parish priest Monsignor Michael Marinella. The building preserves valuable works of ancient art in such a beautiful crucifix, two large canvases sacred (seventeenth century), the putti of the baptismal font and some statues, including Addolorata and San Diodorus Martyr. In the temple are also located the ancient sculptures that previously adorned the altars of the noble old church and were later removed when it was demolished after the earthquake of 1962. Among them, those of Saint Teresa (the family returned to the cult Soup heirs, sons of Dr.. Armando) and St. Anthony (Cocca family, returned to the cult by Anna Zurlo Mogavero), while that of St. Alphonsus Maria de Liguori of Jelardi family is currently in the private chapel at the palace of the same name. Aurelio Fierro

In 1952 he won with the song Rose, poor rrose! The Festival of the Castellammare di Stabia. This prompted him to leave the engineering profession to devote himself exclusively to music. His first big success was Scapegoat. Later came the celebreLazzarella, written by Domenico Modugno, who also became a blockbuster. Fierro has participated in six editions of the Italian Song Festival in Sanremo (1958, 1959, 1961, 1962, 1963 and 1964) and several editions of the Festival of Neapolitan song, which has won five editions.

His famous Guaglione reason (which was a duet with Grace Gresi the Festival of Naples) has been translated into several languages, thanks to the many tour the singer performed in the USA and Canada for the benefit of numerous colonies of Italian immigrants in the late fifties in the North American continent. This song made him very popular in Eastern Europe and inGiappone. The French version, Child, was sung by Dalida.

One of his recent successes, well-known abroad, presented at a Festival of Naples paired with Giorgio Gaber is' A Pizza, text by Alberto Testa. He starred with the likes of Tina Pica, Pupella May, Nino Manfredi, Sylva Koscina. It has also been recording, founding and directing the label King, who was among the early sixties and the first half of the seventies considerable importance at the national level, with the leading artist Peppino Gagliardi. In 1976, to commemorate the death of the composer Salvatore Mazzocco, the label dedicated to the latter Durium album The Naples Salvatore Mazzocco: singing Aurelio Fierro, Annie Lennox, Mario Trevi.

The Sirenuse archipelago (now Li Galli) in front of Positano, consisting of three solitary, rocky, was considered the seat of the sirens that attracted sailors with their song making shipwreck. The myth served as a warning: Do not get too close to the islands that ended on the rocks!

It 'sa aricpelago belongs to Positano and consists of three islands, Gallo Lungo, La Rotonda, Dei Briganti north of the Rotunda.

GALLERIA UMBERTO I

The Galleria Umberto I is a shopping mall built in Naples between 1887 and 1890, the area on which stands the gallery was already intensely urbanized in the sixteenth century and was characterized by a maze of streets parallel connected by short alleys, from Via Toledo sboccavano in front of Castel Nuovo. These alleys enjoyed a bad reputation because there were taverns, houses of ill repute and drunk there crimes of all kinds. The fame acquired over the centuries the area was maintained for most of the nineteenth century. In the eighties of the nineteenth century, the degradation touched extremes: in the streets rose six-story buildings, the level of hygiene was poor and it is no wonder that between 1835 and 1884 in this area had occurred nine cholera epidemics. Under the pressure of public opinion after the epidemic of 1884 he began to consider government intervention. In 1885 was passed the Law for the rehabilitation of the city of Naples (that time was just said the reorganization), whereby the area of Santa Brigida received a new territorial definition. Were a number of proposals, the project turned out winning was to engineer Emmanuel Rocco, then taken up by Antonio Curri and enlarged by Ernesto di Mauro later. This project included a gallery with four arms that intersected in a cruise octagon covered by a dome. The demolition of existing buildings (excluding building Capone) began May 1, 1887 and November 5 of the same year was the first stone building. Within three years, namely 19 November 1890, the new gallery was inaugurated.

‎'O Munaciello & 'A Bella 'Mbriana

‎'O Munaciello & 'A Bella 'Mbriana

'O Munaciello &' A Beautiful 'Mbriana

No doubt 'O Munaciello and' the character more 'named and more' feared by the Neapolitans. Such is the sprite spiteful and bizarre, with its unpredictable behavior, makes the entity 'more' mentioned in the legends. Spiteful behavior often accompany benevolent "legacies" in cash. In this case we must not tell anyone about the incident, otherwise the fury of Munaciello against us. Not 'unusual behavior from rattuso in the presence of young and beautiful women.
There are two hypotheses about its origin:
The first hypothesis takes the start of the whole story about the year 1445 during the reign Aragonese. The beautiful Catherine Frezza, daughter of a wealthy cloth merchant, falls in love with the handsome Stephen Mariconda, a boy. Of course the love between the two and 'strongly opposed. As fate would have ended in tragedy. Stefano was assassinated in place of their secret meetings while Catherine locks herself in a convent. A few months will see a child from Catherine. The nuns of the convent will adopt cucendogli their own clothes like that monk with a hood to hide the deformities' that the boy suffered. So it was that on the streets of Naples was called "lu munaciello." The were attributed magical powers up to the legend that today all the Neapolitans know. Lu munaciello also died mysteriously.
The second hypothesis wants the Munaciello both the manager of the ancient water wells that, in many cases, had easy access in homes passing through the tunnels that were used to lower the bucket. I was teasing them, according to me, 'cause the owners of the well took care to pay him for his services.
Still remains the mystery of this character often associated with the bad part of the human soul to the devil hiding and which 'always there to catch us and that the Neapolitans always try to avoid.
The character referred to as 'A Beautiful' Mbriana, represents the good spirit. It 'a kind of anti-munaciello. Having this presence in the home means well-being and health. E 'is represented as a beautiful woman dressed very well comparable to the fairy tales of children. It 'also said Meriana or' Mmeriana.
The etymological derivation comes from the Latin sundial whose shadow indicates the Marian almost to represent a shadow over their heads, or points out the significance of being ethereal. A testimony of the affection of Neapolitans to this figure, and 'very common surname in Naples Imbriani resulting, say, from' Mbriana.
Last important detail: in the house you should always leave an empty chair 'cause it could get' A beautiful 'Mbriana and sit down to rest. If all the chairs were occupied our friend could go away with all the miseries arising from non-hospitality '!

The Palace of the Spanish or the Spaniard Palace is a monumental palace of Naples, located in via Virgin in the district Health, in the historic center of the city. The building was erected in 1738 by Spanish commissioned by the Marquis of Poppano Nicola Moscati, unifying two lots received from his wife. The project, including the construction of the monumental double staircase, which is defined to "wings of a falcon," which was designed as a sort of meeting place, which was done in a real social life, is given as to Ferdinando Sanfelice, while Francis Attanasio was demanded stucco work in the Rococo style, which were designed by him, but carried out after by Aniello Precious. At the end of the century was bought by Thomas Atienza, whose nickname Spanish is the reason why the building is now called in this way. The new owner realized that the works to expand the palace by adding an additional floor (the last one) and doing paint the frescoes on the first floor, then went lost because of bad restoration occurred over the years, and the second floor. In 1850 the building was purchased by the Costa family thanks to the heavy indebtedness of Atienza, who reached that state, probably due to high costs for embellishments of the palace, which forced the owner to have to give up. Subsequently, the building (like many buildings of Naples), he saw the property fragmented into several parts and is today several private properties. Only two apartments on the top floor, being restored, and have managed to have been purchased by the Campania region The palace has hosted in the past, the Institute of guarattelle (puppet museum of the Aragonese period), and currently, the second and third plan are home to a museum dedicated to establishing Toto, which is open to the public every year in arrears.
