The Sirenuse archipelago (now Li Galli) in front of Positano, consisting of three solitary, rocky, was considered the seat of the sirens that attracted sailors with their song making shipwreck. The myth served as a warning: Do not get too close to the islands that ended on the rocks!

It 'sa aricpelago belongs to Positano and consists of three islands, Gallo Lungo, La Rotonda, Dei Briganti north of the Rotunda.

Gallo Lungo is the largest of the three and is the only one to have been inhabited since Roman times.

To the west of Gallo Lungo are La Rotonda and Dei Briganti north of the Rotunda, the latter more commonly called The Castelluccia.

La Grotta dello Smeraldo

The Emerald Cave was discovered in 1932 by a local fisherman, was intrigued by two strange holes in the rock face up to his death brought the band with pride of "Discoverer of the Emerald Grotto" The interior is very similar to a magnificent temple East, full of columns, stalactites and curtains bizarre shapes, to which popular imagination has assigned the names most curious and most daring combinations. Thus we find mermaids and fantasy animals, famous people: Garibaldi on horseback, for American tourists became George Washington, Napoleon for the French
This magnificent cave in fact, combines the elements of a typical karst cave with those of a sea cave. Originally, the cave was located above sea level, and gave rise to slowly dripping stalactites and stalagmites of various sizes, and later, about 6000 years ago, the rise in global temperature and bradyseism caused the rise sea levels, submerging large tracts of the coast, and bringing the waters of the Tyrrhenian Sea to invade part of the cave, which was so wonderful to take on the current features, mainly due to the existence, about 4 feet below the water level, an opening of offshore
Before going out not to be missed: the charming crib submerged ceramic from Vietri, that every year during the holy season of Christmas, a large group of divers from all over Italy homage with a procession ...
