Aurelio Fierro (Montella, 13 settembre
1923) Era originario di Montella,
in provincia
di Avellino, dove la famiglia aveva
un'impresa di costruzioni e dove uno zio aveva aperto nel 1932 un cinema-teatro.
Uno dei suoi
ultimi successi, molto conosciuto anche all'estero, presentato ad un Festival
di Napoli in coppia con Giorgio
Gaber, è 'A
pizza, testo di Alberto
Testa. Ha recitato con attori del calibro di Tina
Pica, Pupella
Maggio, Nino
Manfredi, Sylva
Koscina. È stato anche discografico, fondando e dirigendo la casa
discografica King, che ebbe tra i
primi anni sessanta e la prima metà degli anni settanta notevole importanza
anche a livello nazionale, con l'artista di punta Peppino
Gagliardi. Nel 1976, per commemorare
la scomparsa del compositore Salvatore
Mazzocco, la casa discografica Durium dedica a quest'ultimo l'album La Napoli di Salvatore Mazzocco:

Trevi. A Napoli aprì un fortunato ristorante, 'A canzuncella, che soprattutto
il sabato sera si riempiva di clienti in occasione del suo dinner show. Studioso della
cultura e delle tradizioni napoletane, sempre a Napoli avrebbe voluto fondare
un museo della canzone con annesso piccolo teatro per i turisti, ma il progetto
non andò in porto. Riuscì invece a pubblicare una Grammatica della lingua napoletana e, per la Rusconi, un libro di Fiabe e leggende napoletane. Per
tutti gli anni
novanta fu impegnato nella
stesura di una Enciclopedia
storica della canzone in
quattro volumi, che non riuscì tuttavia a dare alle stampe. Nel 2002, con una delle sue
ultime esibizioni, partecipa al Premio
Carosone. Muore nel 2005 dopo essere stato colpito da ictus,
e
viene sepolto nella cappella di famiglia nel cimitero di Montella.

Fierro (Montella, September 13, 1923) was born in Montella, Province of Avellino ,
where the family had a construction company and where an uncle had opened in 1932, a movie theater.
His debut
dates back to 1951, when he won a competition to New Voices, finishing first of
six hundred competitors, and this allowed him to sign a contract with laDurium,
which was later recorded a series of songs in Neapolitan and Italian inlingua. In
1952 he won with the song Rose, poor rrose! The Festival of the Castellammare di Stabia . This
prompted him to leave the engineering profession to devote himself exclusively
to music. His first big success was Scapegoat. Later came the
celebreLazzarella, written by Domenico Modugno, who also became a blockbuster. Fierro
has participated in six editions of the Italian Song Festival in Sanremo (1958,
1959, 1961, 1962, 1963 and 1964) and several editions of the Festival of
Neapolitan song, which has won five editions.
His famous
Guaglione reason (which was a duet with Grace Gresi the Festival of Naples) has
been translated into several languages, thanks to the many tour the singer
performed in the USA and Canada for the benefit of numerous colonies of Italian
immigrants in the late fifties in the North American continent. This song made
him very popular in Eastern Europe and
inGiappone. The French version, Child, was sung by Dalida.
One of his
recent successes, well-known abroad, presented at a Festival of Naples paired
with Giorgio Gaber is' A Pizza, text by Alberto Testa. He starred with the
likes of Tina Pica, Pupella May, Nino Manfredi, Sylva Koscina. It has also been
recording, founding and directing the label King, who was among the early
sixties and the first half of the seventies considerable importance at the
national level, with the leading artist Peppino Gagliardi. In 1976, to
commemorate the death of the composer Salvatore Mazzocco, the label dedicated
to the latter Durium album The Naples Salvatore Mazzocco: singing Aurelio
